Shikha Began playing tennis at age 6....father is Mahesh, who played high-level table tennis in India, and mother is Madhu; has one older sister, Diya, and three younger sisters, Neha, Nikita and Nimita...spent time working on games as youth at Saddlebrook Resort attending the Harry Hopman Tennis Academy.....has admired Steffi Graf since she started playing.....enjoys watching Hindi films, listening to all kinds of music and practicing Hindu religion....spent one year studying at Princeton University.

 DECEMBER  Silver Medalist at the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
 MAY  Reached the Semi-Finals of doubles at the WTA in Estoril, POR with her sister Neha.
 AUGUST  Reached the final round of qualifying at the 2006 US OPEN.
 OCTOBER  Reached the Quarter-Finals of the ITF Event in Tokyo, JAPAN.
 

2005

 
 FEBRUARY  Qualified for main draw at Pattaya City, but fell to No.3 seed Martinez in three sets;
 also played following week at Hyberabad, losing to Czink in three-set 1r match.
 MARCH  As qualifier at Indian Wells, defeated Akiko Morigami (JPN) in 1r main draw match
 before straight sets loss to No. 27 seed Shaughnessy in next round.
 AUGUST  Advances to the final round of qualifying before losing to top seed Sybille Bammer.
 SEPTEMBER  Advanced to her first WTA Tour Quarter-Final in the singles before losing to eventual
 Champion Myskina. Reached first WTA doubles final with sister Neha losing to top
 seeded Russians Likhovsteva/Myskina.
 

2004

 
 Made Grand Slam debut as world No.275 qualifier at US Open (in first Grand Slam qualifying), defeated. No.56
 Obata, but l. in 2r to former two-time champion No.12 (No.11 seed) V.Williams 75 61 (led 4-1 in first set),
 afterwards on September 13, broke into Top 200 at No.182; qualified at Budapest, l. in 1r to No. 72 Bartoli, and
 failed to qualify at three other Tour events; On the ITF Circuit, won second and third career singles titles at
 $10K ITF/Ft. Worth-USA and $10K ITF/Edmond-USA, also reached one doubles final. The first woman of Indian
 origin to qualify and go to the second round of any major grand slam event.
